Back in my Body: Rae Senarighi

For generations, society has operated on a gender binary that dictates what bodies are considered socially acceptable and those divergent ones that are not. Back in my Body broadly explores coming home to yourself and celebrating who you are in your body.

Featuring Rae Senarighi’s portraiture and typography, this exhibition specifically investigates the concept of being at home in our bodies through the trans and nonbinary community. Senarighi’s portraits celebrate accurate representations of trans and nonbinary people with vivid, bold colors radiating the individuals' brilliance while celebrating acceptance and self-love. Through typography, Senarighi expands upon this message through meditations on trans and nonbinary empowerment.

Back in my Body implores us to be compassionate towards our bodies and authentically celebrate being wholly who we are in our bodies. As we collectively work to break down the construct of gender, we also need to continually take the time to celebrate our bodies and who we are in them.
